Jennie Stancil Davis August 25, 1924 April 05, 2016 Stantonsburg..............Jennie Frances Stancil Davis, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 05, 2016. Jennie was born August 25, 1924 at home on Stancil's Hill near Stantonsburg, NC to Thomas Leslie and Lillie Woodard Stancil. She attended Stantonsburg High School. She graduated from the Greenville School of Cosmetology in 1954. She enjoyed "Poodling" her lady's hair and of course catching up on the local news for over 40 years. She married the love of her life, Wilbur cooper Davis on December 9, 1956. She was a loving wife, homemaker and mother until the end. Jennie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Stantonsburg for many years and then Peace Church of Wilson in her latter years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Leslie Stancil and Lillie Woodard Stancil; brother and spouse, John Wilson Stancil (Josephine Boswell Holloman); sisters and spouses, Sudie Stancil Bateman (Claude "Daddy-Pap"), Elsie Stancil Coleman (James "Buddy"), Louise Stancil Mozingo (Willie Atlas), Dorothy Stancil Stith (Elbert), Hattie Stancil Fentress ( Walter), Myrtle Irene Stancil; children, Brooks Allen Davis and Wilbur Cooper Davis, Jr. She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Wilbur Cooper Davis, Sr. of the home; son, Randy Allen Davis and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Lloyd Allen, Luke Thomas and Lillie Elizabeth Davis, all of Stantonsburg. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 09, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Shingleton Funeral Home Chapel with Rusty Russell & Donald Walston officiating. Interment will follow at The Stancil Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Shingleton Funeral Home. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the caretakers, Lois Fuller, Teresa Perkins and Clary Jain, who allowed their loved one to stay at home.
