WILSON – Bettie Marie Stokes Fulcher, age 82, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. She was born on June 17, 1943 to the late Clarence and Marie Stokes. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Pridgen.
Bettie was a member of the North Wilson Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years. She dedicated her life to serve her god Jehovah at an early age, and in 1957 was baptized. She served as a regular or auxiliary pioneer for 19 years and was well known for her zealous activity in teaching others the truths from the bible. Bettie was devoted to Jehovah, family, and friends and spent many hours sharing the good news about God’s Kingdom and the hope of a brighter future of life on a peaceful earth.
Bettie’s work with the community college system as a receptionist and in student services in Wilson and Wilmington, NC began in 1962 and ended in 1972 when she returned home to Wilson and married Bob, her husband of 53 years. She loved sewing and spent hours making clothes for herself and the girls. Bettie enjoyed traveling with family and friends to the beach, Disney World, and cruises. She cherished her children and grandchildren and always wanted to be involved in their activites as they grew into adulthood. Volunteering at schools where they attended was something she enjoyed very much and did so often. Bettie always made sure to have young ones over for gatherings and the upstairs den was usually a busy place. The children’s friends often joined her family on vacation. She will be greatly missed and will be in our hearts always.
Bettie is survived by her husband, Robert W. Fulcher; daughters, Susan Aliff (Larry), and Stacie Poste (Matt); son, Jason Fulcher; brothers, Frank Stokes (Elizabeth), and Kenny Stokes; sister, Cathy Skinner; Granddaughter, Tara Aliff; Grandson, Grady Poste; and several nieces and nephews.
