NEWPORT – Cassidy Nicole Brinkley, age 15, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Born in Wilson County, NC on December 9, 2010, she was the daughter of Jonathan Brinkley and Carrie Clay. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wayne and Cynthia Clay; her paternal grandparents, Thelton and Helen Brinkley; and her uncle Michael Shane Parker.
Cassidy had a deep love for animals and found joy in helping others. She cherished time spent at the beach and the park, listening to music, and attending services at Glad Tidings Church. Cassidy loved to give and receive gifts.
Along with her parents Cassidy is survived by her brothers, Liam and Sean Butt, of Newport; her aunt and foster parents, Crystal and Jesse Lamm and family, of Wilson; her aunt Amanda Williams, of Wilson; her aunt, Michelle Clark and Family, of Cary; her uncle, Wesley Clay and Family, of Gloucester; her cousin, Jasmine Saucedo, of Durham
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home. A visitation with the family will be held in the Parlor of Shingleton Funeral Home following the service.
