Doris Edwards Matthews

April 10, 1941 – August 13, 2021

                         Wilson….Doris E. Matthews, age 80, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021.

                         She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Doris was a faithful long time member of Hornes United Methodist Church in Wilson. She truly loved her church and her church family.

                        Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrel Bowles officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.

                        She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell T. Matthews and her parents, Redger and Grace Dew Edwards.

                        She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Strickland (Will) of Wake Forest; sons, Brian Matthews (Angie) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Todd Matthews of Wilson; brother, R.L. Edwards of Wilson; grandchildren, Jessica, Sierra, Kyle, and Justin.
