George Sharp Obituary

George Thomas Sharp, Sr. August 26, 1922 April 20, 2015 Kenly...George Thomas Sharp, Sr., age 92, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thad P. Sharp, Sr. and Eva Glover Sharp; first wife, Doris Wilson Sharp; sister, Virginia Sharp Williamson and brother, W. Dalton Sharp. George was a Wilson county farmer and Hampshire swine producer as well as a WWII Veteran. Sgt. Sharp served his country honorably during WWII in the U.S. Army. He trained with the 103rd Division and fought with the 29th Division in the European Theater. George landed in Normandy after D-Day and fought in Normandy, France, Belgium and Holland. He was decorated with the Purple Heart for wounds received during battle in Holland. In his retirement, he was an avid fox hound breeder and enjoyed listening to the dogs run. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Nobles Chapel Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Wells officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Nobles Chapel Church and other times at the home. He is survived by his wife, Edna Stott Sharp of the home; daughters, Linda Sharp Miller (Jimmy) of Rock Ridge, Debbie Sharp Hancock (Charles) of Rock Ridge, Katherine Sharp Sherrod (Ben) of Sims, Thresa Ann Davis (Wilbur) of Reidsville, Bonnie Marlene Dorsey (Kirk) of Elizabeth City; sons, George T. Sharp, Jr. of Kenly, Thaddeus Warren Sharp (Mary) of Rock Ridge, Harvey Nelson Stott (Mary Lu) of Clayton; brother, Thad Sharp, Jr. (Julia) of Sims, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Free Will Baptist Children
