Gladys Burgess

Gladys High Burgess September 23, 1920 May 2, 2015 Sims... Gladys Burgess, age 94, died Saturday, May 2, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lemach Daniel High and Lelia Murray; husband, Harvey ï¿Â½Jimï¿Â½ Burgess; sons, Willis, Thomas and wife, Janet and Daniel; sister, Mamie Belle Query and brother, L.D. High. She was a long time member of New Sandy Hill Church where she taught Sunday school. Gladys enjoyed life, being with friends, having a good time, fishing, gardening and trying to keep her sons and grandchildren in line. She worked very hard raising her four sons, farming and also worked at three different sewing factories. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 11:00 until 12:45 at Shingleton Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at Bailey Town Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Harold Wayne Burgess and wife, Cheryl; sister, Cleo High Boykin of Sims; grandchildren, Barbara, James, Dwayne, Michael, Scott, Tammy, Gladys, Thomas, Jr., Harold, Jr., Bradley and Brian.
