Jo Ann (Lamm) Denton

STANTONSBURG – Jo Ann Lamm Denton, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Born in Saratoga, NC, on March 21, 1942, she was the daughter of late Clarence Lamm and Numa Walston Lamm. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Denton; her second husband, Billy Shadding; son, Paul E. Denton, and sister, Gloria Joyner.

Jo Ann was a loving and compassionate person.  She was a caregiver for 54 years.  She will be truly missed by all of her family and friends.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Donna Shingleton and husband Tim of Stantonsburg; son, Audie Denton of Stantonsburg; sister, Katie King of Rocky Mount; daughter-in-law Deborah Denton; grandchildren, Robbie Denton and wife Kelly, Jeremy Gay and wife, Amanda, Lee Denton and wife, Brittany, Ashley Champion and husband, Aaron, and Allison Shingleton; great-grandchildren, Hali Denton, Kase Denton, Joy Gay, Kaylee Denton, Taylor Denton, Bethany Denton, Bryleigh Champion, Heidi Champion, Parker Champion, and Sadie Champion; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will be held Monday December 29, 2025 from 6 PM until 8 PM in the parlor of Shingleton Funeral Home, 2413 Nash Street, NW, Wilson, NC 27896. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM at Stantonsburg Town Cemetery, Paschall Ave., Stantonsburg, NC 27883, with Rev. Lee Britt officiating.
