John Stephen "Steve" Mercer, Jr.

WILSON – John Stephen “Steve” Mercer, Jr., age 58, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Born in Wilson, NC, on April 3, 1966, he was the son of Gloria Bunn Mercer and the late John Mercer, Sr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda Mercer Davis.

Steve is survived by his significate other, Kelly Murphy of the home; his daughters, Stephanie Mercer (Brendan) of Wilson, and Nicole Monroe (Lloyd) of Lucama; his son, Dominic Foulkrod (Amanda) of Wilson; his step-daughters, Nelly Driver (Will) of Wilson, and Harley Johnson (Matt) of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Connor Clark, Jonathan Davis, Chase Davis, Madison Davis, Carter Hurley, Ethan Hurley, Julian Johnson, Cheyenne Johnson, and Avada Driver; his niece, Amanda “Mandy” Page; and his soul sister, Robin Perry (Marty).

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, starting at 3:00 PM at Shingleton Funeral Home, 2413 Nash Street NW, Wilson, NC 27894, with Pastor Wayne Whitley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Raper Family Cemetery, 4826 St. Marys Church Road, Lucama. A visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM prior to the service in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home.
