LaRue Bissette Obituary

LaRue Wainscott Bissette, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was born in Paris, TN to the late William and Mamie Wainscott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty – four years, Wilbur Louis Bissette, and her son Michael Louis Bissette.

LaRue was a talented basketball player in high school. She had the opportunity to play basketball in college in Tennessee but due to her father’s early passing she made the decision to stay home and help her mom take care of her siblings and family. She had 3 brothers (Fred, Bob, and Billy) and 5 sisters (Goldie, Alma, Peggy, Gwen, and Pat) and was the only remaining sibling at the time of her passing.

LaRue spent many years in Bailey with her husband and son working on the farm. She loved taking care of her Grandchildren who lived just down the road from her while they were growing up. Her Grandchildren will always remember Mema’s love for cooking, especially her banana pudding, carrot cake, fried chicken and chicken and dumplings. She loved gardening, watching talk shows, soap operas and the news and spoiling her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

LaRue is survived by her grandchildren, Shelley Bissette, Leanne Getz (Adam), and Craig Bissette (Vici); great-grandchildren, Jackson Bissette, Lawson Bissette, Caleb Getz, Ella Getz, and Davis Getz, and caregiver and family friend Maria Sanjuana Cardona who very graciously cared for Mrs. LaRue for many years. Shelley, Leanne and Craig would like to express their gratitude to Maria for her willingness to always help and for being with Mema up until her final moments. She truly made a difference in Mema’s life and theirs. They would also like to express appreciation to the team at Wilson Hospice for their support over the last year.
