Maynard Guy "Pete" Self

                       STANTONSBURG – Maynard Guy “Pete” Self, age 76, passed away peacefully at ECU Medical Center on November 28, 2025 after a long illness. Guy was the second of three sons born on December 03, 1948 in Roanoke, VA to the late Charles Guy Self and Dorothy Peters Self. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, Raynard J. Self. After his birth his family lived in Florence, SC and Rocky Mount, NC. Guy served in the US Army in Vietnam and other military bases. His civilian profession was mainly maintenance mechanic for various manufacturing companies, including Sara Lee in Tarboro.

                        Guy is survived by his loving wife, Helen Carraway Self; daughter, Samantha Self of Rocky Mount; step-sons, Craig Wade (Deborah) of Apex, and Garland Wade, Jr. (Kimberly) of Black Creek; brother, Robert “Bob” Self of Kill Devil Hills; Sister-in-law, Julean Self of Roseboro; Grandchildren, Brandy Lucas (Daniel), Carter Wade (Riley), Tyler Brackfield (Samantha), Austin Brackfield (Sarah) and great-grandchildren, Layla Lucas and Hayden Brackfield.

                         A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home with Robert Self officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Stantonsburg Town Cemetery.
