Roney Thomas Mercer August 1, 1932 March 5, 2017 Wilson..............Roney Thomas Mercer, age 84, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Walston Mercer; sisters, Isadore Baker, Helen Ruth Page; brother, William L. "Bill" Mercer. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Sam Cullifer officiating. He is survived by his son, Danny T. Mercer and wife, Polly, of Lamar, SC; sisters, Ruby Thorpe of Durham, Louise Roberts of Raleigh, Faye Tew of Garner, Linda Lamm of Wilson; granddaughters, Whitney Anderson, Chrissy Gaskins; great-grandchildren, Bryce Anderson and Berkley Anderson. The family will receive friends at the home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5260 Old Raleigh Rd., Wilson, NC 27893.
