Carrboro….Thomas “Tommy” Gray Owens, age 53, passed away on Monday, May 04, 2026. He was born in Wilson, NC on October 19, 1972 to Thomas Gray Owens, Sr and Judy Kaye Pittman Owens. Tommy was a painter for most of his life and enjoyed what he did. He was also a Carolina Fan.
Tommy was a former painter of J.B. Weaver in Wilson growing up Tommy was a great drywall finisher. He was very quick witted with an incredible sense of humor. Tommy loved the Lord and loved his brother very much. He was a member of Love Chapel Hill Church and was greatly dedicated to serving Christ. He was an Alumni of Community Empowerment Fund (CEF) in Chapel Hill, NC .
In addition to his parents Tommy was preceded in death by his cousins, Jonathan Aron Wells and Gary Douglas Wells.
Tommy leaves to cherish his memory, sister, Angela Owens Bailey and his niece and nephew, Somer Powell and Hunter Bailey of Wilson; brother, Jason Owens of Chapel Hill; step-brother, Michael Zahn Moore of Wake Forest; aunt, Debbie Denton Owens of Pittsboro, Carole Owens Robinson of Fountain; uncle, Rueben Owens of Fountain; cousin, Justin Owens of Macclesfield.
A visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2026 from 10:00 until 10:45 am with the service following at 11:00 am in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Philbrook officiating. Interment will follow in Pikeville cemetery.
