William Earl “Teenie” Bass

Elm City….William Earl “Teenie” Bass, age 84, went to be with the lord on Friday, October 08, 2021.
Teenie was born and raised in Elm City, near Dunn`s Crossroads, with three brothers and one sister. He married the love of his life, Jeanette Matthews Bass, on June 7, 1957 and enjoyed fifty two years of marriage together. He joined the United States Army in May of 1959 and served honorably until April 1961. Following his military service, he worked at Long`s Manufacturing in Tarboro, NC until 1970. He then started working at Teledyne Thermatics in Elm City as a machinist, where he retired after thirty two years of service.
He was a member of Pleasant Hope Missionary Baptist church in Elm City. He and his wife were avid followers of the Oak Grove Boys Christian music group and also enjoyed their trips to the mountains, especially Maggie Valley, NC. Teenie enjoyed a good card game any chance he could, especially rummy and spades.
Teenie was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; son–in-law, Jay Todd Farmer; son, William Earl Bass Jr. “Bill”; grandson, Todd Farmer Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Farmer of Elm City, Lorraine Johnson and husband, Eric of Macclesfield; son, John Loyd Bass and wife, Lorraine Farmer of Elm City; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Shingleton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
